Chadwick Wins Wild West IMCA Modified Race
At Siskiyou Motor Speedway
Yreka, CA...Kellen Chadwick picked up the win in the second round of the seven race Wild West IMCA Modified Speedweek Series at Siskiyou Motor Speedway Sunday night. Chadwick drove a patient race and picked the right moment to make his move. On lap 24, he found it as he made an inside pass in Turn 4. He dove underneath Lance Mari and emerged with the victory. Chadwick led the rest of the 35 lap race for a $1,000 payday.
Willamette Speedway champion Collen Winebarger led from the opening lap until lap 14, when Mari made a move on the outside to grab the lead. Mari would settle for second after Chadwick got by. Winebarger finished third ahead of Danny Lauer, Brian Poppa, Bricen James, Randy Brown, Alex Stanford, Mark Carrell and Gary Ferrando. The 15 lap B Mains went to reigning Yreka champion Nick Trenchard ahead of Kyle Casson and Fernando ahead of defending series champion Jesse Williamson. Saturday night Medford winner Ryan Scott Gaylord won the 15 lap Last Chance Qualifier ahead of Kevin Roberts.
Bay Area visitor Fred Ryland made the trip up north for a two win weekend. After his Medford win a night earlier, the defending State Champion would win the 20 lap O'Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Sport Modified Main Event in impressive fashion. Ryland grabbed the lead on the opening lap and wansn't threatened from that point on. Ryland held a half lap lead at the checkered flag, leaving the battle for second. Jimmy Ford and reigning track champion Colter Boswell had a side by side battle with Boswell claiming second at the finish. Jimmy Lipke was fourth ahead of point leader Garrett Hamilton, Jorddon Braaten, David Marble, Colton Cheffery, Mike Medel and Patti Ryland. Medford point leader Bratten won his heat race and the Trophy Dash. F. Ryland and Medel were the other heat winners.
Racing will go back to the regular Saturday night format next week. On the schedule will be McDonald's Mini Stocks, O'Reilly Auto Parts IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds and Mud Bogs.
