Trenchard Wins Third Roger Haudenshild Tribute At Southern Oregon Speedway
White City, Oregon...June 2...Taking the lead from Preston Jones early in the race, Nick Trenchard went on to victory in the 25 lap IMCA Modified Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway. This was the 6th Annual Roger Haudenshild Tribute race, and the win paid $2,000 to Trenchard. It was also his third win in the big event. He added $200 to his totals by winning the special 11 lap Crack The Whip race. The additional purse money was sponsored by the Haudenshild Family and Dusty's Transmissions of Central Point.
Jones paced just one Main Event lap before Trenchard made an outside pass in Turn 2 to gain the lead. On the third lap, Albert Gill went by Jones in Turn 2 to gain second with Duane Orsburn making a backstretch pass on Jones for third. By then, Trenchard was a straight away in the lead, leaving a good battle between Gill and Orsburn for second. Trenchard was working lapped traffic and in command of the race when a caution flag flew for a Jon DeBenedetti spin on lap 11. Brett Provost spun on the front stretch to botch the first restart attempt. Trenchard continued to lead the next restart with Orsburn making an inside pass on Gill in Turn 2 to gain second. Trenchard was setting a rapid pace and soon had a straightaway advantage once again. The man making the charge was Dave Duste Jr, who had fifth on the last restart. Duste took fourth from Jones on lap 17. Orsburn was doing a good job of handling the pressure of Gill in the battle for second, but Gill made a low pass in Turn 4 of the 22nd lap to reclaim the position. Trenchard was never seriously threatened in posting an impressive victory. Gill was a strong second, and Orsburn spun in Turn 2 on the final lap as he was battling Duste for third. Duste claimed the third position, followed by Zach Fettinger and Jones.
The 17 car field ran three ten lap qualifying heat races. Trenchard, Gill and Jones picked up the wins in those races. Mark Wauge blew a motor on the opening lap of his heat race to end his night. Duste claimed four lap Trophy Dash honors. The IMCA Modifieds return on June 16th, followed by the Wild West Speedweek race on June 23rd. Ryland Collects Big Payday In Roger Haudenshild Tribute Sport Modified Race
White City, Oregon...June 2...Gaining the lead midway through the race, Fred Ryland picked up the victory in the 20 lap IMCA Sport Modified Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway. The 2015 IMCA California state champion, Ryland made a lap 10 pass on Jimmy Ford and would lead the rest of the way in victory. The additional purse money was sponsored by the Haudenshild Family and Dusty's Transmissions of Central Point.
It was Fred's wife Patti Ryland leading the 22 car field at the start of the Main Event. The race had a rough start with six yellow flags in the first five laps. Patti Ryland caused the fifth yellow flag when she spun from the lead in Turn 4 on the fourth lap. That handed the lead to Ford ahead of Mike Medel and Fred Ryland. Bill Richey and Dave Rule tangled in Turn 2 for a caution flag on lap six. Ford led the restart ahead of Medel and Fred Ryland. Fred Ryland made an inside pass in Turn 2 of the ninth lap to take second from Medel and made a similar move a lap later to gain the lead from Ford. Ryland set a rapid pace in the waning laps of the race and held a straightaway advantage at the checkered flag. Ford settled for second, just ahead of Medel, Oregon State point leader Justin McCreadie and David Marble.
McCreadie picked up the $200 prize for winning the nine lap Crack The Whip race. Tony Duste made a last lap pass on Willie McFall to pick up the four lap Trophy Dash victory. Jimmy Lipke held off Fred Ryland to win the first of four 10 lap heat races. Foote Wins Late Model Race At Southern Oregon Speedway
White City, Oregon...June 2...Dave Foote scored the victory in the 20 lap Late Model Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway. This was the first feature win for Foote at this track.
Foote jumped out to the early Main Event lead ahead of Miles Deubert, but Brian Bowman made a low pass in Turn 4 of the second lap to take second. Point leader Nathan Augustine took third from Deubert with a Turn 4 pass on lap three and gained second a lap later. By then, Foote was leading by about a straightaway as Augustine began to work on reeling him in. Deubert made a front stretch pass on Bowman to take third on lap six. The leaders caught a slower car on the backstretch on lap eight. As Augustine was attempting to get by, the slower car got into him, causing the only yellow flag of the race. Both drivers were out of the race, and Augustine's car suffered extensive damage. Foote continued to lead Deubert on the restart, and he led the remaining 10 laps for the satisfying victory. Deubert settled for second ahead of Bowman and Don Garrett Jr.
Deubert was attempting to get a clean sweep after holding off Augustine to win the four lap Trophy Dash and then winning the six lap heat race. Late Models will return as part of the Veterans Night race on June 30th. For further information, go to www.southernoregonspeedway.com.

Stoutenburgh Has Luck On His Side
In First JOAT Labs Hornets Win
White City, Oregon...June 2...Taking the lead on the 14th lap, point leader Jason Stoutenburgh went on to win the 20 lap JOAT Labs Hornets Main Event. It was his first win of the season. Ashtin Hedges had led the race from the start and appeared headed for his second straight win when mechanical failure handed the lead to the reigning champion Stoutenburgh.
Stoutenburgh started his night off with a four lap Trophy Dash win and appeared to be headed for a six lap heat race victory when mechanical issues sent him to the infield and put him last on the Main Event grid. Six lap heat race wins went to father Tim Hedges and son Ashtin Hedges. Ashtin Hedges moved into the lead at the start of the feature, followed by Tim Hedges and Chris Boynton. A Turn 2 spin by Brandon Wonsyld brought out a lap two caution flag. Ashtin Hedges continued to lead Tim Hedges on the restart and Stoutenburgh was already up to sixth. A Turn 2 pass on the fifth lap gained Boynton second from Tim Hedges as Stoutenburgh was up to fifth. Stoutenburgh made a big move into third on lap seven as Zach Nelson spun on the back stretch for a caution flag. Ashtin Hedges continued to lead Boynton on the restart. Stoutenburgh made a high pass in Turn 3 of the 11th lap to take second from Boynton. Dylan Irving pitted on lap 13, and Ashtin Hedges saw his impressive run up front end when he stalled on the backstretch for a lap 14 caution flag. Stoutenburgh led the restart ahead of Boynton, but Boynton had mechanical issues on the front stretch. Ashland High School competitor John Ferreira actually pushed Boynton off of the track. A Turn 4 pass on lap 15 gained Wonsyld second from Tim Hedges, and the final caution flag flew for debris on the track. Stoutenburgh led Wonsyld on the restart as Zach Nelson moved in to battle Tim Hedges for third. Stoutenburgh went on to victory with Wonsyld a strong second. Nelson had taken third from Tim Hedges, but Hedges beat him back to the checkered flag for the position as Bree Tritchler and David Miller were the final drivers to finish.

Peters Wins SODCA Race At Southern Oregon Speedway
White City, Oregon...June 2...Brock Peters collected his first 20 lap SODCA Dwarf Car feature win of the Season Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway. The two-time reigning champion has struggled a bit so far this year, but this was a reminder that he is still a driver to be reckoned with in the group.
Randy Slater and Joe Sanders tangled in Turn 4 to cause a restart. Slater attempted to get his car fixed and returned, but he spun in Turn 4, while Ashleigh Strain spun in Turn 1 for a lap one caution flag. Brock Peters led the opening lap and the restart as Kalvin Morton passed Ryan Smith for second. An inside pass in Turn 4 of the third lap put Cody Peters into third. Brock Peters and Morton ran ahead of the pack in a good battle, and a lap 13 caution flag waved for Brett James. Block Peters continued to lead Morton and Cody Peters on the restart, but Camden Robustelli took third from Cody Peters on lap 15. Robustelli began to battle Morton for the second position as Brock Peters led the way. On the final lap, Robustelli gathered the momentum coming out of Turn 4 and beat Morton to the checkered flag for second. Brock Peters was the happy winner ahead of Robustelli, Morton, Chad Cardoza, Ryan Smith, Josh King, James, Jesse Lorenz, Casey Sheeler and Strain.

Lenz Repeats As Pro Stock Haudenshild Tribute Winner
At Southern Oregon Speedway
White City, Oregon...June 2...Dr Scott Lenz held off all contenders to win the 20 lap Calculated Comfort Pro Stock Main Event as part of the 6th Annual Roger Haudenshild Tribute race Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway. The win paid Lenz $1,200 and was the second straight victory for him in this particular race. Additional money was given to the Pro Stocks, courtesy of D&R Auto And Industrial of Klamath Falls.
2016 champion Steve Borror had the pole for the feature and settled into the early lead ahead of Lenz and Jeff Haudenshild. Borror and Lenz were already having a good battle up front when the first caution flag waved on lap two. On the restart, 2015 series champion Jeffrey Hudson slipped underneath Lenz to take over the second position, but a Turn 4 spin by Roy Bain brought out a caution flag. Borror led Lenz and Hudson on the next restart, but Borror spun in Turn 4 to bring out a caution flag. Lenz had the lead for the next restart and would lead Hudson and James Flowers as the green flag waved. Lenz set a blistering pace and was soon a straightaway in front of Hudson, who had his hands full with Johnny Cobb, James Flowers and Scott Flowers in a good battle. Lenz was quickly approaching that battle when the final caution flag flew on lap 13 for debris on the track. Lenz remained in command on the restart and would lead the rest of the way for the victory. Hudson was a strong second ahead of Borror, Cobb, Scott Flowers, Haudenshild, James Flowers, Ken Irving, Ginny Flowers and Brian Hammond.
There were 17 competitors in the pits, and Borror won the first six lap heat race by a comfortable margin in front of Scott Bennett. Tiffee Gaines Point Lead with Victory Steele claims 4th Win
At Siskiyou Speedway
Yreka, CA...June 2...Trevor Tiffee became the fifth different winner in as many races in IMCA Sport Modified competition Saturday night at Siskiyou Motor Speedway. All night long, Tiffee enjoyed a good battle with championship rival Ryder Boswell. He won the eight lap heat race and four lap Trophy Dash with Boswell in pursuit both times. Come Main Event time, Tiffee and Boswell enjoyed several side by side laps as both were intent on grabbing their first feature win of the season. However, Tiffee was just a bit quicker and brought it home to the checkered flag, followed by Boswell, Randy Wright, Gary Foster and DJ Bottoms. The win also put Tiffee into the point lead.
In the Mini Stock division, Medford point leader David Steele returned and captured his fourth 20 lap feature win in as many starts. Steele battled two time reigning champion Marilyn Yawnick in the preliminaries, holding her off to win the four lap Trophy Dash and finishing second to her in their eight lap heat race. In the Main Event, Steele set a rapid pace and steadily pulled away to a straightaway advantage over Mike Whitaker for the win. Terry Kendrick was a solid third, followed by Yawnick, Dennis Jorgensen, Mike Frost, Michael McLeod, Jason Frost and Heather Ryan. Rookie Darek Alford grabbed his first career eight lap heat race win ahead of Jorgensen.
The Jefferson State Jalopy Association put on an exhibition race with three of their four Jalopies at the track due to the fact that they couldn't find a driver for the fourth car. The race was a culmination of over a year's worth of work on these cars by Karl Bernstein and JJ Smith. The Jalopies will be back for another exhibition race next Saturday night.
Next Saturday night's program will feature IMCA Sport Modifieds, Mini Stocks, a Kart demo and Power Wheel races for the young kids. For further information, go to www.siskiyoumotorspeedway.com.
Montgomery, Siewell And Talon win At Coos Bay Speedway
Coos Bay, Oregon...June 2...Brody Montgomery increased his NASCAR Super Late Model point lead even more with his win in the 25 lap Main Event Saturday night at Coos Bay Speedway. Montgomery again swept the action with his ten lap heat race win over Richard Wallace and five lap Trophy Dash triumph ahead of Kristy Grout. Unfortunately, attrition took a heavy toll on the competition. It fell to Grout to try and claim the $100 bounty for the driver who could beat Montgomery, but the best she could do was to chase him around the speedway for a season best second place finish.
Likewise, Sportsman Late Model point leader Dyllan Siewell had a clean sweep with his victories in the ten lap heat race, five lap Trophy Dash and 20 lap Main Event. Siewell outran Tom Williams to win their heat race, and he rolled to about a straightaway advantage over Williams at the Main Event checkered flag. Wayne Butler settled for third ahead of Charlie Withers.
Ken Fox and David Smith were left to battle for the 20 lap Street Stock Main Event win. Point leader Fox thrilled the crowd by beating Smith for his third feature win. Fox won by inches and also won the ten lap heat race. Smith picked up the five lap Trophy Dash victory.
Point leader Sam Talon won his sixth Mini Outlaw Main Event. Talon also won the ten lap heat race, but John Henry prevented a clean sweep with his 5 lap Trophy Dash victory. Nobody was keeping pace with Talon as he pulled away to a straightaway advantage over Tom Siewell at the checkered flag. Henry settled for third ahead of Carl Johnson.
Rookie Tyler Tullos took over the Hornet point lead with his first career 20 lap Main Event win. Tullos becomes the fifth different winner in six races. He held off five lap Trophy Dash winner Hannah Robison for the win. David Pellum took the checkered flag in third, followed by Chuck Peck, Leroy Rockwell, Sam Taylor, Andy Austin, Matt Breiter and Chris Parker. Tullos also won the ten lap heat race.
The fans got treated to a show when the Beast Jett Car burned a car to the ground. The oval track will be dark next Saturday night, but the Malicious Monster Truck Tour comes to town on June 15th and 16th. Regular oval track racing will return with Ladies Night on June 23rd, featuring a full program of NASCAR Super Late Models, Sportsman Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Outlaws, Hornets and the Winged Sprint Cars. The track's youngest competitors in the Beginners Box Stock Sealed class continued to have a strong showing. Mike Wheeler Jr picked up his third straight Main Event victory ahead of Uriah Sanders, Shailene Horn, Carson Henson and Bhaltaire Edwards.
