Bailey Hibbard Wins Again In Southern Oregon Speedway Kendall Oil Sprint Cars

White City, Oregon...July 8...Sixteen year old Bailey Hibbard won his second 25 lap Kendall Oil Winged Sprint Car Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway.  It was a race that nearly got away late, but Hibbard stayed smooth and brought it home to a $1,000 victory aboard his Dave's Carpet & Vinyl Liquidators/Pacific Properties sponsored Sprinter.  Point leader Kyler Barraza made a last ditch attempt to take the lead, but he came up short at the end.

The preliminaries had three different winners.  Barraza won the eight lap heat race, while David Hibbard was the winner of the four lap Trophy Dash.  B. Hibbard won the four lap Scramble to earn the pole for the feature.  B. Hibbard raced into the lead over Barraza and D. Hibbard at the start of the Main Event.  The only caution flag of the race flew on lap three for a Calvin Hibbard spin in Turn 2.  B. Hibbard maintained the lead on the restart with Barraza and D. Hibbard right behind him for a while.  However, young Bailey left the second place battle and steadily reeled in the fourth place battle of Merissa Henson and Camden Robustelli.  Henson was driving a smooth race and was leaving no opening for Robustelli.  When B. Hibbard caught the two cars, he was reluctant to make a move up high to get around them.  Barraza pulled right behind B. Hibbard as they took the white flag.  Exciting Turn 4 one last time, Barraza attempted to get underneath him, but he spun to avoid contact.  B. Hibbard went on to victory ahead of D. Hibbard, Henson, Robustelli, Barraza and Calvin Hibbard.

The Kendall Oil Winged Sprint Cars will be back on July 22nd and August 5th.  For further information, go to www.southernoregonspeedway.com.

McCoy Impressive In Southern Oregon Speedway
IMCA Sport Modified Win

White City, Oregon...July 8...Rich McCoy won the 20 lap IMCA Sport Modified Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway.  McCoy's first win of the season came by a wide margin as has become a player in the championship battle.  David Marble won a spirited duel with point leader Mike Medel for a second place finish.

Willie McFall was a double winner in preliminaries with six lap heat race and four lap Trophy Dash wins.  McCoy grabbed the victory in his heat race.  McCoy raced into the Main Event lead at the start ahead of Jesse Merriman and McFall.  McFall and Medel both raced past Merriman for second and third in lap three, and Merriman spun for a lap four caution flag.  McCoy continued to lead McFall and Medel on the restart.  Marble made it a three car battle for second as McCoy pulled away.  A low move in Turn 2 of the ninth lap gained Marble third from Medel, and Marble made a back stretch pass on McFall for second on lap 11.  By then, McCoy had a straightaway advantage over second.  Marble got out of shape in Turn 4 on lap 13 as Medel and McFall both raced by.  Marble took third from McFall on lap 14, and an inside move on the back stretch a lap later put Marble back into second.  There was no catching McCoy as he sped to his first win of the season.  Marble was a season best second, followed by Medel, McFall, Mike Helwig and Merriman.  Tony Duste made his division debut in the former Bob Nelsen car.  He is the third generation of his family to race at the speedway, and he took a checkered flag in seventh.  Kalvin Morton was there, but he sold his car before the heat races.

The IMCA Sport Modifieds will be back on August 12th as part of Hall Of Fame Night.  The IMCA Modifieds will also be there that night and will be at the track on July 22nd as well.  For further information, go to www.southernoregonspeedway.com.

Burkett Sweeps Valley Stor-All Late Model Lites Action
At Southern Oregon Speedway

White City, Oregon...July 8...Bob Burkett won his first 20 lap Valley Stor-All Late Model Lites Main Event of the season Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway.  Burkett figured to be the driver to beat in the rookie race this season, but his clean sweep of his heat race, the Trophy Dash and Main Event gave him the point lead as Lee Doty loaded up with a broken rear end after hot laps.

Burkett's evening started with a four lap Trophy Dash win ahead of Charlie Eaton, and he followed that up with a six lap heat race win in front of Eric Aos.  Eaton won his heat race in front of past Super Truck champion Greg Arnold, who was making his return to the division in his recently purchased car.  Burkett paced the opening lap of the Main Event before Eaton raced by on the inside in Turn 2 for the lead.  Danny Prewitt ran third ahead of E. Aos, but Aos raced by Prewitt for third on lap three.  E. Aos took second from Burkett before a lap five caution for a Prewitt spin slowed the pace.  Eaton continued to lead the restart as Burkett took second from E. Aos.  Eaton set the pace with Burkett hanging with him as E. Aos and Prewitt battled for third.  A low pass in Turn 2 gained Burkett the lead from Eaton on lap 16.  Burkett started to pull away, but a Prewitt spin forced a lap 17 caution flag.  Burkett led the restart, but his car slowed a little bit on the back stretch as he was having a fuel pick up problem.  Eaton beat him back to the white flag, but Burkett managed to get back by on the back stretch on the last lap.  Burkett held on for the victory as Eaton settled for second.  Prewitt raced to a third place finish, followed by Dustin Aos, E. Aos, Bill Spencer and Arnold.

Peters Wins Third Straight SODCA Feature
At Southern Oregon Speedway

White City, Oregon...July 8...Brock Peters won the 20 lap SODCA Dwarf Car Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway.  Peters is the reigning champion, and this was his third straight Main Event win at his home track.  He had a little luck on his side as son Cody Peters spun while leading.

The Peters family won the six lap heat races as C. Peters won the first heat ahead of Kaycee Sheeler, while B. Peters won the second heat in front of Chad Cardoza.  C. Peters held off Cardoza to win the A Dash, while Ryan Smith claimed the B Dash victory in front of Fred Hay.  C. Peters raced into the Main Event lead from his front row start.  B. Peters and Cardoza dropped Sheeler out of the Top 3 on lap two.  B. Peters was pressuring C. Peters for the lead, but the young gun was doing a good job of leading the way.  On lap 16, C. Peters spun in Turn 4 for a lap 16 caution flag.  B. Peters led the restart with Smith racing past Cardoza for second.  B. Peters led the remaining laps for the victory.  Smith was a season best second ahead of Cardoza and Hay.  C. Peters made a last turn pass on Randy Slater to salvage a fifth place finish as Steve Walker, Sheeler, Paul Haslow and Joe Sanders made up the remainder of the Top 10.

Hedges Sweeps JOAT Labs Hornets Race
At Southern Oregon Speedway

White City, Oregon...July 8...Reigning champion Tim Hedges won his second straight 20 lap JOAT Labs Hornets Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway.  This time, Hedges left little doubt as to who the winner was as he led the entire distance.  He also won his heat race and the Trophy Dash to make it a clean sweep as Derrel Nelson Jr. returned and finished second.

T. Hedges started his night with a four lap Trophy Dash win ahead of incoming point leader Jason Stoutenburgh.  He also held off Nelson to win his six lap heat race.  Brandon Wonsyld led three laps of his heat race before Ashland High School student John Cordery raced by for the lead and victory.  Wonsyld finished second.  The Main Event was destined to go non stop, and T. Hedges raced into the lead at the start ahead of Nelson and Ashton Hedges.  Stoutenburgh got a flat tire in Turn 4 on the opening lap and headed for the pits.  Cordery took third from A. Hedges on lap three.  Wonsyld ran close to A. Hedges and finally made the pass for fourth on lap 15.  Nelson ran strong, but T. Hedges was just a bit faster as he scored the impressive victory.  Cordery finished third, followed by Wonsyld, A. Hedges, Kevin Hilgendorff, Jenna Hedges, Dillon Irving, Angie Gillette and Stoutenburgh.

Anderson Wins Second Mini Stock Feature
At Southern Oregon Speedway

White City, Oregon...July 8...Gary Anderson won the 20 lap Mini Stock Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway.  This was the second win of the season for the 2014 champion as he continues his climb up the point ladder.  Michael Johnson made a last ditch attempt to take the lead on the final lap before settling for second.

Incoming point leader Dillen Lausen won his first career Trophy Dash ahead of Anderson.  Anderson beat 2013 champion Steve Goetz to win his six lap heat race, while Kristopher Mix won his heat ahead of Lausen.  David Steele's title hopes took a hit when he blew a motor in his heat race to end his night.  Anderson had a front row start for the Main Event and raced into the lead ahead of Goetz.  Johnson made a Turn 1 pass on Mix on lap three to take over third in a race that was destined to go non stop.  The lead four of Anderson, Goetz, Johnson and Mix ran closely, and Johnson made an outside move on the front stretch on lap eight to take over second.  Johnson began pressuring Anderson for the lead, but Anderson was running a great race out front.  Johnson tried everything he could think of.  As they raced to the checkered flag, Johnson got a run on the inside.  Johnson spun across the finish line in his last ditch effort to take the lead, but Anderson prevailed.  Goetz settled for third ahead of Mix, Lausen, Hall and Hunter Magnan.

White City, Oregon...July 7...Trevor Grimes won the 20 lap Box Stock Main Event Friday night at the Southern Oregon Speedway Outlaw Kart track.  The two time reigning champion won the race ahead of Keaton Augustine and Vinny DeBenedetti.  The race had a red flag when Yreka champion Taylor Fuller flipped his kart in Turn 4.  Fuller was okay, but out of the event.  Grimes also won the 250 Kart feature.

Jacob James won his second straight Beginners Box Stock Main Event ahead of reigning champion Kiley Grimes and Isiah Sanders.  Wyatt Pinckney grabbed the victory in the 500 Open Kart Main Event.  Racing returns to the Outlaw Kart track on July 21..  For further information, go to www.southernoregonspeedway.com

Hirst Wins Round 2 Of Sprint Car Speedweek
At Coos Bay Speedway

Coos Bay, Oregon...July 11...Kyle Hirst won Tuesday night's NST Sprint Car Speedweek race at Coos Bay Speedway.  Hirst is the current Sprint Car Challenge Tour point leader in California and isn't planing to run the full week, but he looked impressive in this race.  After grabbing the pole with his six lap Trophy Dash victory, Hirst led the Main Event from the start and was never seriously challenged.  Lucas Ashe was an early second before surrendering the spot to Mitchell Faccinto's front stretch pass on lap nine.  Just a couple laps after Yreka winner Justyn Cox retired, Ashe slowed on the back stretch and pulled into the infield, allowing Steven Tiner to take over third on lap 23.  Even a pair of late yellow flags would not stop Hirst from scoring his impressive win.  Tiner made an inside pass on the back stretch on the last lap to take second, forcing Faccinto to settle for third.  Tyler Seavey, Jake Wheeler, Kyler Barraza and Cooper Desbians rounded out the lead lap finishers.  Wheeler and Jamie Duff were eight lap heat winners as 15 drivers competed.

Brody Montgomery won his tenth NASCAR Sportsman Late Model Main Event.  Only point leader Montgomery and two time reigning champion Wayne Butler competed.  Montgomery won the feature and heat race, while Butler won the Trophy Dash.

Steve Dubisar dominated the 20 lap Street Stock Main Event in a flag to flag romp for his sixth win of the season.  Dubisar was chased across the line by three different drivers in his clean sweep night.  He beat Jeff Thurman to win the five lap Trophy Dash and won the ten lap heat race ahead of point leader Justin Krossman.  In the Main Event, reigning champion Daniel Land moved his truck past Krossman for second on lap five with an inside pass in Turn 2.  A yellow flag flew moments later for Ken Fox.  Dubisar continued to lead the restart and stretched his advantage to a straightaway by the time the checkered flag flew.  Land had three cars right behind him, but he held on for second ahead of Krossman, Thurman and Fox.

Tom Williams won the 20 lap Hornet Main Event.  It was the second win for Williams in a race that was not for points as several drivers took the night off.  Dave Pellum was the early leader, but Williams made an inside pass on the back stretch to take over on lap six.  Heat race winner Hannah Robison made an inside pass in turn 4 to take over second by the time the lap was completed.  Trophy Dash winner Sam Taylor settled into third for several laps, but Pellam made a Turn 2 pass to regain third on lap 14.  Williams set a good pace out front and went on to victory.  Robison was a season best second, followed by Pellum, Taylor and April Warmack.

NASCAR Whelen All American Series racing returns on July 22nd.  Super Late Models will be back along with the Winged Sprint Cars, Sportsman Late Models, Street Stocks, Mini Outlaws, Hornets and Humboldt Motorsports Side By Sides.  For further information, go to www.coosbayspeedway.us.

Kasper, Ross Win Independence Celebration
At Hayfork Speedway

Hayfork, CA...July 8...Hayfork Speedway held their Independence Celebration in front of a good crowd of spectators.  In addition to a great night of racing in multiple divisions, the fans got a chance to meet the racers during intermission to get autographs and give the kids an opportunity to sit in a race car.  After a great night of racing, the show ended with a spectacular fireworks display.

Third generation racer William Kasper scored the victory in the 12 car Hobby Stock Main Event.  The race had a complete invert from the heat races, which were won by previous feature winner Russ Newman and Orland Raceway point leader Jeremy Langenderfer.  Newman also won the Trophy Dash.  These two started back in the sixth row, and Kasper had some passing to do from his fourth row outside starting spot.  These three hard chargers had to negotiate their way through a race that featured several spins from racers, including young D.J. Case, the #66x car that was formerly driven by Jessica Jones at Antioch Speedway and a #1 car that caught fire on the front stretch for a red flag.  Fortunately, the driver was okay.  Kasper had to battle the likes of past Clyde Cordell Memorial winner Burl Richardson, Reigning Orland Raceway champion Steve Martin, Jason Bovee, Brian Young and others to get to the front of the pack.  Once Kasper got the lead, he sped home to his most impressive win yet, chased across the line by Newman and Langenderfer in second and third, respectively.

Orland Raceway Mini Truck point leader Keith Ross won the Mini Stock Main Event.  Ross was part of a group of four Mini Truck competitors visiting Hayfork, including reigning Orland champion Dan Webster, William Fogle and past Orland champion Ross Vige, who is also the reigning Hayfork champion.  Webster won his heat race ahead of William Young, while Ross won his heat race in front of Vige.  Ross continued his push towards his eventual clean sweep with a Trophy Dash win.  Andy Blackburn and past champion Jack Turner battled for the Main Event lead, but Turner spun.  By then, Blackburn faced a onslaught of trucks that he couldn't keep behind him.  Ross scored the victory ahead of Vige and Webster.

Past Enduro champion William Young entered his Mini Stock in the Enduro and won that race.  The wild and crazy Enduro is run at the end of the night.  After the track is soaked with water, the drivers come out to do battle for victory.  Among the seven car field were such stars as previous winner Tim Kasper and Joey Young.  W. Young worked his way around the wet track and the other cars the best and won the race, followed by Issac Kephart in second.

Timmy Tremayne won the Quad race once again.  There were a half a dozen competitors willing to race their Quads around the big oval.  Tremayne has been the star of this group since the class was added last year, and he sped to victory with Matt Yoder chasing him in second.  Yoder has vowed to come back and beat Tremayne next time.

Racing will return to Hayfork Speedway with all of these divisions on July 22nd.  For further information, go to track's Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Hayfork-Speedway-105283739564954/.

Nieman First Repeat Winner
At Diamond Mountain Speedway

Susaville, CA...July 8...Chris Niemam won the 20 lap IMCA Modified Main Event Saturday night at Diamond Mountain Speedway.  Nieman is the reigning champion, and he also became the first repeat feature winner in seven races.  In the Main Event, Nieman set a good pace up front and won by nearly a straightaway ahead of heat race winner Scott Foreman.  Trophy Dash winner Mitch Murphy was a solid third, followed by Matt Murphy, Larry McCracken, heat winner Steve Boucher, Joe Blackwell and Tyler Patzke.

Craig Nieman won again in the 15 lap IMCA Sport Modified Main Event.  Nieman also won the heat race, but his clean sweep effort was thwarted in the Trophy Dash as Jason Emmott just barely beat him across the line for the victory.  Nieman won the Main Event ahead of Bob Feller and Emmott.

Shayna Robertson won the 15 lap Strictly Stock Main Event.  This was Robertson's third straight victory as she continues her bid for the track championship.  Jimmy Huffman gave it a good effort, but he settled for second ahead of Ray Tallavera Sr. and Nathan Howard.  Robertson also won the Trophy Dash, but Howard won the heat race.

Tom Davis won a good battle for the 15 lap Mini Stock Main Event victory.  This was his third win in his last four starts and fourth of the year as the Orland Raceway point leader has been doing very well at Susanville.  In the Main Event, Davis won a good battle with a pair of hard charging lady racers, Suzi Schmidt and Kate Robertson, who settled for second and third.  For Schmidt, second was her best finish of the season.  Ray Tallavera Jr. was fourth, followed by Tyler Cheeks, Billy Gibson, Madison Hood, reigning champion Larry Whitebird, Larry Foster and Alissa Lovelace.  Ryan Belli wom his heat race, but he didn't have a good Main Event.  Davis won his heat race, but he lost a photo finish to Robertson in the Trophy Dash.

These same four divisions will run two more races this month on July 23rd and July 29th.  For further information go to https://lassencountyfair.org/interim-events/diamond-mountain-speedway/.

Cox Opens Sprint Car Speedweek With Victory
At Siskiyou Speedway

Yreka, CA...July 10...Justyn "Indiana" Cox kicked off the 2017 NST Sprint Car Speedweek Series with a win in the 30 lap Main Event Monday night at Siskiyou Motor Speedway.  Cox earned his pole position start for the big race by winning the six lap Trophy Dash ahead of Petaluma Speedway competitor Zack Lynskey.  Cox led Lynsky for six laps before a yellow flag for Steven Tiner slowed the pace.

As Cox led the restart, 2016 Yreka race winner Mitchell Faccinto raced past Lynskey on the back stretch for second.  At the mid point of the race, the leaders were in traffic, but Cox was making all the right moves.  A lap 19 caution flag flew for Jake Wheeler.  Cox continued to lead Faccinto on the restart, and Sean Becker raced past Lynskey for third.  Cox drove a brilliant race during the final ten laps for the victory despite pressure from second place finisher Faccinto.  Becker was a strong third ahead of Lynskey and Kyle Hirst.

Steven Tiner was the final driver to qualify and managed to set the fast time of 11.666.  Hirst was the first qualifier and ended up with the second fast time of 11.692.  Faccinto won his ten lap heat race ahead of Lucas Ashe.  Australians Michael Keen and Daniel Keen ran 1-2 in the second Sprint Car heat.

Colton Cheffey had a little luck on his side in winning his second straight 20 lap IMCA Sport Modified Main Event.  Jack Waldon III had a front row start for the Main Event and raced into the early lead over new point leader D.J. Bottoms.  An inside pass in Turn 4 of the fourth lap gained Cheffey second from Bottoms.  Cheffey was pressuring Waldon from that moment until lap 16, when Waldon's car lost power in Turn 2 to end his impressive run up front.

Cheffey led the final restart with reigning champion Jimmy Lipke chasing him closely.  However, Cheffey set a good pace and won ahead of Lipke, Bottoms, Doug Franklin and Keith Brown Jr.  Brown held off Trevor Tiffee to win a close four lap Trophy Dash.  Ryder Boswell won his eight lap heat race in front of Tiffee, while Brown outran Lipke to win his heat race.

A double header weekend finds Outlaw Karts racing on the small oval on Friday night.  On Saturday night, it will be IMCA Sport Modifieds, McDonald's Mini Stocks, Outlaw Pro Stocks, SODCA Dwarf Cars and IMCA Modifieds on the big track.  For further information, go to www.siskiyoumotorspeedway.com.

Montgomery, Land Score Coos Bay Speedway Victories

Coos Bay, Oregon...July 8...Brody Montgomery won the 25 lap NASCAR Sportsman Late Model Main Event Saturday night at Coos Bay Speedway.  The four division NASCAR program was part of the Eve Of Destruction show and had a big fan attendance.  Montgomery's feature win was his ninth of the season as he maintained his point lead.  Montgomery scored the win by a straightaway ahead of his closest point rival and two time reigning champion Wayne Butler.  Butler was working on a clean sweep after winning the five lap Trophy Dash ahead of Deven Brown and winning the eight lap heat in front of Dyllan Siewell.  Jeff Krossmam was a lead lap third as Stacy Robinson, Siewell and Brown rounded out the finish.

Daniel Land won the 20 lap Street Stock Main Event.  It was the first win of the season for reigning champion Land.  Land won a good battle with Jeff Thurman and Josh Bearedn, who finished a close second and third, respectively.  Thurman won the five lap Trophy Dash ahead of Land, while Bearedn won the eight lap heat race in front of Steve Dubisar.  Dubisar was a Main Event scratch as Ken Fox and Justin Krossman rounded out the field.

Sam Talon won the 20 lap Mini Outlaw Main Event.  It was the fourth win of the season for the current point leader and 2015 champion.  Alyssa Johnson was a straightaway behind in second.  John Henry and Tom Williams battled fiercely all night long, but Henry kept coming out ahead with wins in the five lap Trophy Dash and eight lap heat race.  Henry also finished third in the Main Event with Williams close behind in fourth.  Jason Kallam and Dan Daniels rounded out the finishing order.

Ryan Siewell collected another 20 lap Hornet Main Event victory.  This was Siewell's ninth feature win of the season as he continues to lead by a wide margin in the championship battle.  Siewell won the Main Event ahead of Tom Williams.  Reigning champion Jeremiah Reiber was a strong third ahead of Jeremy Beard, Sam Taylor, Hannah Robison, Patrick Nagel, Sam DeShenne, Jason Greer and Tim Young.  Williams won the five lap Trophy Dash ahead of Jeremy Beard, and Beard won an eight lap heat race in front of Robison.  Braden Fugate won his heat ahead of Reiber.
