David Hibbard Wins Third Straight Sprint Car feature
At Southern Oregon Speedway

White City, Oregon...July 7...Leading from the drop of the green flag, David Hibbard went on to win the 25 lap Kendall Oil Winged Sprint Car Main Event at Southern Oregon Speedway Saturday night. It was the third straight win and fourth of the season for the current point leader, and it came aboard his Dave's Carpet and Vinyl Liquidators sponsored mount.

David Hibbard kicked things into high gear in his six lap heat race as he held off Blaine Cory for the victory. Garen Linder made his first start in the class and outran Bailey Hibbard to win their race. Linder continued his momentum by holding off Hibbard to win the six lap Scramble. However, Hibbard charged into the Main Event lead as Bob Fredrickson waved the green flag. Linder was an early second ahead of Cory and Bailey Hibbard. Tanner Holmes raced past Bailey Hibbard for the fourth position on lap four, and Hibbard caught slower traffic by lap 11. Cory was starting to pressure Linder for the second position and made the pass on lap 15. However, David Hibbard had a good lead that he took to the checkered flag. Cory, who is the top rookie in the field, scored his second straight runner-up finish, followed by Linder, Holmes, Bailey Hibbard, Charlie Thompson, Jeffrey Hudson, Merissa Henson and Aaron Miller. Calvin Hibbard scratched early in the evening with motor problems.

The Kendall Oil Winged Sprint Cars return this Saturday night as part of Kids Night at the speedway. Joining them will be the Late Models, Bobbio's Pizza Mini Stocks and JOAT Labs Hornets. For further information, go to www.southernoregonspeedway.com.

Fettinger Returns For Second IMCA Modified Win
At Southern Oregon Speedway

White City, Oregon...July 7...Taking the lead from Mark Wauge on lap 10, Zach Fettinger went on to win the 20 lap IMCA Modified Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway. Fettinger won his previous start, but he skipped the Speedweek event. He won by a straightaway advantage at the checkered flag as Albert Gill settled for second.

Andy Freeman kicked off the evening with a four lap Trophy Dash victory. Gill won his six lap heat race ahead of Wauge, while Nick Trenchard scored his heat race win, followed by Jeremy Ohlde. The Main Event had to be restarted after James Welshonse and Ohlde got together in Turn 3. This was the only yellow flag slow down of the race. Wauge raced into the lead at the start, followed by Gill and Fettinger. Fettinger slipped past Gill for second on lap three, and the lead three cars ran in close formation at the front of the pack. A low move in Turn 2 of the tenth lap put Fettinger into the lead. Fettinger was soon lapping slower cars. Wauge retired from second on lap 13, and Trenchard made a move around Gill for second a lap later. However, Gill came charging by on lap 15 to regain the position. Ohlde was battling Freeman for the fourth position, but he made his move by on lap 19. Fettinger set a rapid pace and built a straightaway advantage at the checkered flag. Gill was a solid second, followed by Trenchard, Ohlde, Freeman, David Satterfield, Jantzen Knips, Tim Bailey, Bo Shields and Wauge.

Wilson Uses Last Lap Pass To Score IMCA Sport Modified Victory At Southern Oregon Speedway

White City, Oregon...July 7...Branden Wilson made a last-lap pass to score a surprising 20 lap IMCA Sport Modified Main Event victory Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway. The race had been led for much of the distance by 2016 Yreka champion Jimmy Lipke, who settled for second.

Willie McFall got things started with a four lap trophy Dash win. Two-time champion Mike Medel won his six lap heat race in front of Jesse Merriman, while point leader David Marble outran Jon Rowden to win his heat. Lipke had a pole position start for the feature, which had three straight yellow flags in the first three laps. Lipke led a lap before surrendering the lead momentarily to Randy Wright. Lipke moved back by Wright on the restart as Merriman settled into third. A lap seven caution flag flew for debris on the track, and Merriman and Branden Wilson shuffled Wright back to fourth on the restart. However, Wright made a Turn 2 pass on lap nine to take third from Wilson. Lipke had a good lead when a yellow flag flew for a Marble spin on lap ten. Lipke continued to lead Merriman and Wright on the restart, but Wilson made a Turn 2 pass to take third from Wright. A spin forced a lap 12 yellow flag, and a three-car tangle involving Merriman, Rowden and McFall botched the first restart attempt. Lipke led Wilson and Wright on the restart. Lipke seemed to be headed for victory as he took the white flag ahead of Wilson. However, Wilson got a run on Lipke and made an outside pass as they took the checkered flag to steal the victory. Lipke settled for second. Marble made a Turn 4 pass on lap 19 to grab a third place finish as Wright settled for fourth, followed by Tony Bartell, Tony Duste, Merriman, Bob Thomas, Brian Knorr and Michael Rule.

Cody Peters Goes Flag To Flag for SODCA Dwarf Car Win
At Southern Oregon Speedway

White City, Oregon...July 7...Cody Peters scored the 20 lap Southern Oregon Dwarf Car Main Event victory Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway. He becomes the fifth different feature winner in six races so far at the White City track. Peters picked up a win in the eight lap B Dash earlier in the evening and then held off a last-lap bid by Kalvin Morton, who was trying to claim his third straight victory.

Josh King picked up a win in his six lap heat race, followed by Anthony Pope. Camden Robustelli outran Chad Cardoza to win their heat race, and Brock Peters won the other heat in front of Ryan Smith. Robustelli scored the six lap A Dash win ahead of King, and Cody Peters gave a preview of the Main Event by out running Morton to win the eight lap B Dash.

Prior to the running of the Main Event, the Dwarf Cars ran a Memorial Lap for Southern Oregon racing icon Markey James, who passed away a week ago. King is the grandson of James, and Markey's son Brett James also races with the Dwarf Car group. Peters had a front-row start, and he charged into the lead at the drop of the green flag with King settling into second. However, Morton made a Turn 4 pass on King to grab the second position, and he chased Peters through two yellow flag periods during the first 10 laps. Fred Hay took third from King on a lap nine restart, and Smith was up to fourth a lap later. A lap 14 yellow flag waved for Dan Halbert. Cody Peters led Morton and Hay on the restart. The leaders caught slower traffic during the final two laps, and Morton made a strong bid to beat Peters back to the checkered flag. However, Cody Peters had just enough momentum to claim the victory. Morton settled for second, followed by Hay, Smith, King, Robustelli, Michael Johnson, Kaycee Sheeler, Randy Slater and Don Gifford.

The Southern Oregon Dwarf Cars will be back in action at Southern Oregon Speedway on July 21st along with the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, Valley Stor-All Late Model
Lites and OTRO Hardtops. For further information, go to www.southernoregonspeedway.com or check out the Dwarf Car home page at www.sodca.net.

Eaton Maintains Point Lead With Second Valley-Stor All
Late Model Lites Feature Win

White City, Oregon...July 7...Gaining the lead when the lead two cars made contact on lap 15, Charlie Eaton went on to win the 20 lap Valley Stor-All Late Model Lites Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway. It was the second win of the season for the current point leader. Reigning champion Bob Burkett led the race up until losing the lead on lap 15, and he settled for second.

Burkett got things started with a four lap Trophy Dash win ahead of championship contender Greg Arnold. He followed that up by outrunning Arnold to win the six lap heat race. Unfortunately for Arnold, his Main Event didn't end up so well. Burkett raced into the Main Event lead from his pole position start, followed by Arnold and Eric Aos. Making his season debut, 2016 champion Lee Doty settled into fourth on lap three. The lead duo had pulled away from the pack as Doty made an inside pass on the backstretch on lap six to take third from Eric Aos. Doty began to reel in the leaders and caught them by lap nine. A caution flag flew after 11 laps when Arnold's run came to an abrupt end in Turn 2. Dusty Aos brought out the final caution flag on lap 14. On the restart lap, the lead duo got together in Turn 2, slowing their pace enough for Eaton to race by both of them for the lead. Burkett recovered in second, but he couldn't quite make a move on Eaton, who was the happy winner. Doty settled for third, followed by Eric Aos, Dusty Aos and Arnold.

The Valley Store-All Late Model Lites return to action on July 21st along with the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, Southern Oregon Dwarf Cars and OTRO Hardtops. For further information, go to www.southernoregonspeedway.com.

DeBenedetti, Augustine, Johnson Repeat Winners
At Little Southern Oregon Speedway

White City, Oregon...July 6...Vinny DeBenedetti impressed with his second 20 lap 250 Kart Main Event win Friday night at little Southern Oregon Speedway. It was his second straight win as he served notice to the competition that he is indeed a contender in the championship battle. The night again had two different heat race winners as Cadyn Smith held off 2016 champion Bodee Weiser to win the first heat, while point leader Trevor Grimes won the second heat, followed by Weiser once again. However, Weiser vacated a front-row start in the Main Event as the team had a dispute with the second heat race, which involved Braden Weiser, who also scratched from the race. Trevor Grimes led the opening two laps of the Main Event. Smith ran second on the first lap, but an outside pass on the back stretch a lap later put DeBenedetti into second. DeBenedetti made an outside pass in Turn 4 of the third lap to take the lead from Grimes as Smith followed closely into second. Taylor Fuller made a pit stop, and moments later, Grimes came to a stop on the back stretch for a lap four caution flag. Fuller rejoined a lap down as DeBenedetti led Smith on the restart. DeBenedetti once again ran smooth and consistent laps and maintained the lead all the way to the checkered flag. Smith settled for second ahead of Fuller and Grimes.

Point leader Keaton Augustine picked up his second straight 15 lap Box Stock Main Event victory. Augustine won his first heat race ahead of Taylor Fuller, and Jacob James outran Ryan Hirschbock to win the second eight lapper. Augustine had the pole for the Main Event and raced into the immediate lead, closely pursued by James, Hirschbock and Fuller. The race ran non-stop, and throughout the entire distance, the lead four karts ran nose-to-tail as all drivers ran smoothly and swiftly. Hirschbock begin trying to make moves on the inside of James for second and made a strong last lap effort. However, James wouldn't budge, and Augustine was the happy winner, followed closely by James, Hirschbock and Fuller. Kiley Grimes was a lead lap fifth.

Point leader Malachi Johnson scored his third straight 15 lap Beginners Box Stock Main event victory. There were 11 karts in the field, and Mike Wheeler Jr won both of his eight lap heat races, pursued by Uriah Sanders and Hunter Granger in their respective heats. Johnson won both of his heat races ahead of Carson Henson in both races. This set up a good battle between front row starters Wheeler and Johnson. Wheeler led at the drop of the green flag, followed closely by Johnson. An inside pass in Turn 4 in heavy traffic on the fourth lap gained Johnson the lead from Wheeler. A caution flag flew for Hunter Granger moments later. Johnson continued to lead Wheeler and Carson Henson on the restart. Working what would have been the sixth lap, Wheeler made a move around Johnson, but another caution flag waved for a spun kart, negating the pass. Johnson led Wheeler on this restart as Henson was leading a good battle with Uriah Sanders for third. A caution flag waved once again on lap eight for Sanders and Alexis Smith. Johnson maintained his lead on the restart with Wheeler in very close pursuit as the two karts were working heavy traffic with three drivers who are still out there learning at their own pace. Traffic was heavy on the final lap as the leaders came down the front straight away, resulting in a four wide run as Johnson just held off Wheeler for the impressive victory. Henson brought it home in third, and Sanders made a lap 13 pass on Jayme DeBenedetti to take the fourth place finish. Granger settled for sixth, followed by Bentleigh Chapman, Smith, Isaac Grimes, Bhataire Edwards Caleb Ranney.

Lori Fuller won a strange UAS Speedway Kart Main Event. Larry Fuller won both of his heat races, followed by Johnny Hoult in each eight lap race. The Main Event saw Hoult spin as Steve Rambo led the opening lap ahead of Lori Fuller. Larry Fuller retired and Hoult was unable to get his Kart to start. Rambo pulled into the pits, leaving Lori Fuller as the only driver on the track. Lori Fuller was declared the winner, followed by Rambo, Larry Fuller and Hoult.

It was decided to cancel the originally scheduled Outlaw Kart race for this Friday night to allow the kids to enjoy a night at the County Fair, but racing will return on July 20th with a full program. For further information, go to www.southernoregonspeedway.com.
