Thomas Wins Northwest Focus Midgets Main Event
At Southern Oregon Speedway

White City, Oregon...May 27...Leading all the way from his front row starting position, Tristin Thomas won the 25 lap Northwest Focus Midgets Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway.  This was the group's first ever appearance at this track, and it kicked off their ten race Summer Series that will pay out a $10,000 point fund, plus contingencies to the Top 10 drivers.  Thomas is the 2015 champion and finished third in points last season.

T. Thomas started on the front row of the 22 car Main Event and immediately raced into the lead.  As Thomas began to pull away, reigning champion Nick Evans an Michael Vollbrecht had good battle for second place.  The flying Thomas was already in lapped traffic by lap ten, and traffic entered the picture in the second place battle.  Vollbrecht gained second on lap 14.  Garrett Thomas and Chance Crum were running in the top 5 by lap 15 in what was a rapidly run race.  The race nearly went caution flag free as a white flag was displayed to the leaders when Otto Jorgensen stalled in Turn 3 and caused the yellow flag to be displayed immediately.  Evans had pitted just before the white flag to shake up the lineup further.  Club rules state that the lapped cars are put to the back on restarts with five or less laps to go, but this didn't deter T. Thomas as he led the final two laps for the impressive victory.  Vollbrecht was a strong second ahead of Crum, G. Thomas and Eric Turner.  Nate Vaughn and Ryan Culley were a lead lap sixth and seventh as Johnathan Jorgenson, Shane Smith and Thomas Walker rounded out the Top 10.

Walker won the first of four eight lap heat races ahead of Vollbrecht.  G. Thomas won heat two in front of Vaughn, and Turner was victorious in the third heat as Sawyer Lind finished second.  The closest finish occurred in the final heat as Crum won just ahead T. Thomas in a good battle.  Vaughn won the four lap A Dash ahead of Hannah Lindquist.  Glenn Bittrolf won the B Dash in front of B. Jorgenson.

Barraza Sweeps Kendall Oil Sprint Car Action
At Southern Oregon Speedway

White City, Oregon...May 27...Kyler Barraza led from flag to flag to win the $1,000 prize in the Kendall Oil Winged Sprint Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway.  The two time Southern Oregon Sprint Tour champion was coming off of a second place finish in the season opener, and he won all four of the races he was in.

After his victory in the Scramble, Barraza gained the pole for the feature as Bailey Hibbard lined up on the outside.   The race had to be restarted after contact left David Hibbard's car damaged and stalled in Turn 4.  Barraza charged into the lead on the restart ahead of B. Hibbard and Merissa Henson.  Enrique Jaime moved into third on lap five, but a Jaime spin in Turn 2 a lap later forced a yellow flag.  Henson's car stalled on the back stretch with steering issues.  Barraza led B. Hibbard and Jaime on the restart.  Chico Economy Sprint racer David Johnson pitted on lap 11 as Jeff Crossman was lapped.  Barraza set a rapid pace up front and beat B. Hibbard by about a straightaway in victory.  Jaime was a solid third as Jeff Crossman took a checkered flag in fourth.

Barraza also won his eight lap heat race ahead of B. Hibbard, and D. Hibbard won the other heat ahead of Jaime.  Barraza completed the clean sweep with a four lap Trophy Dash victory head of D. Hibbard.  The next two Kendall Oil Winged Sprint Car races are set for June 10th and 17th.  In August, the track will be holding a $3,000 to win Wingless Sprint Car event.  It's the Cascade Sprint Car Challenge, presented by Herz Precision Parts.  for further information, go to www.southernoregonspeedway.com.

At Southern Oregon Speedway

An exciting night of racing began with Brian Crouch holding off Jamie Britton in a near photo finish for his first career four lap Trophy Dash win.  Dusty Trotter beat Crouch for his first six lap Hardtop heat race win on the dirt.  B. Trotter outran Minter for a heat race win.  B. Trotter raced into the lead at the start of the Main Event ahead of Britton.  D. Trotter and Minter shuffled Britton back to fourth on lap four, and Minter took second from D. Trotter a lap later.  B. White City, Oregon...May 27...Tobey Ferrando won the ten lap Pro 4 West Modified Main Event Saturday night at Southern Oregon Speedway.  Tobey is the 2015-16 division champion at Salem Indoors.  This was the group's first visit to the track, but it was plagued with bad luck.  Reigning indoors champion and Ferrando family patriarch "Papa" Tom Ferrando was towing his car and Renee Ferrando's car to the track when his tow vehicle broke down.  Last season's indoors point runnerup Rick Wagner and Zac Ferrando both had mechanical issues in hot laps.  Tobey Ferrando led every lap in winning the feature and also won the Trophy Dash, while T.J. Ferrando won the heat race.

Trenchard Wins Arnberg Memorial,
Braaten Wins Hittson Memorial At Siskiyou Motor Speedway

Yreka, CA...May 27-28...Nick Trenchard turned in a dominating performance with a $1,038 victory in the 38 lap John Arnberg Memorial Race Sunday night at Siskiyou Motor Speedway.  The 2015 IMCA Modified champion was dialed in all weekend long and won every race in which he started, including Sunday's big race and Saturday's qualifying feature.  On Sunday, Trenchard beat reigning track champion Albert Gill in the ten lap Fast Dash to grab the pole for the big money Main Event.

Trenchard raced into the lead at the start ahead of Kyle Casson.  Ryan McDaniel won the heat race to start seventh in the Main Event.  He quickly settled into third.  A lap 34 yellow flag opened the door for McDaniel to slip past Casson for the second position.  However, Trenchard held command to the checkered flag with McDaniel settling for a $500 second.  Casson finished a close third as Jeff Faulkner, Monte Bischoff, Albert Gill, Lenny Toolanen, James Welshonse and Scott Crumm took the checkered flag in order.

Trenchard was just as fast on Saturday in winning the 20 lap qualifying feature ahead of Casson, Gill and Welshonse.  Duane Orsburn was a lap down in fifth as Toolanen, Faulkner, Crumm, James Anderson and Zach Fettinger completed the Top 10.  Trenchard won Saturday's four lap Trophy Dash ahead of Casson and their eight lap heat race ahead of Crumm.  Fettinger won the other heat ahead of Casson.

Jorddon Braaten won his fourth 32 lap Bo Hittson Memorial Race in the IMCA Sport Modified division on Sunday.  Braaten finished second to Keith Brown Jr. in the ten lap Fast Dash, but Brown's Main Event ended on lap 26.  Braaten raced into the lead at the start and would lead the entire race for the $812 victory.  Saturday winner Justin McCreadie battled reining Medford champion Mike Medel for a $500 second place finish.  Medel still finished a solid third ahead of Justin Foux, 2016 champion Jimmy Lipke, D.J. Bottoms, heat race winner Craig Nieman and Randy Wright, all on the lead lap.  Brown and Jason Emmot completed the Top 10.

McCreadie had a flag to flag romp for the win in Saturday's 20 lap qualifying feature.  Brown made his way through the pack and passed Foux late for a second place finish.  Jack Waldon III ran a good race to hold off Braaten for fourth as Medel, Jesse Merriman, Rich McCoy, Garrett Hamilton and Wright rounded out the Top 10.  Braaten won the four lap Trophy Dash ahead of McCreadie, but he finished second to Cory Biggs in their eight lap heat race.  Hamilton held off Waldon to win his heat race, and McCreadie beat Colton Cheffey in the final heat.  Unfortunately, Cheffey had problems in the Main Event and was done for the weekend.

David Steele won his third Mike Caveye Memorial Race in the last four years.  Steele led the 32 lap McDonald's Mini Stock race from start to finish, but reigning champion Marilyn Yawnick was a close second.  The duo also ran 1-2 in the Fast Dash.  Ethan Killingsworth rebounded from a bad Saturday night to win the heat race and finish third in the Main Event.  Saturday winner Mike Whitaker finished fourth ahead of Gary Anderson, Tyler Frost, Dan Borror, Guy Morris and Amber Waldon.  Title hopeful Terry Kendrick blew a motor in the Fast Dash to end his night early.

After a rough first four races, 2014 champion Whitaker had a great Saturday night.  It started with Whitaker finishing second to Kendrick in their heat race and continued with Whitaker holding off Kendrick to win the four lap Trophy Dash.  Whitaker won the 20 lap Main Event.  He battled early with Kendrick before Steele moved in for the challenge.  However, Whitaker would not be denied as he scored the impressive win ahead of Steele, Kendrick, Yawnick, Borror, Mike Frost, Morris and Waldon.  Killingsworth had problems in his heat race and was done early.

Racing resumes this Saturday night with IMCA Sport Modifieds, McDonald's Mini Stocks, IMCA Modifieds and Late Model Lites all scheduled.  For further information, go to www.siskiyoumotorspeedway.com.

Montgomery, Robustelli Score Coos Bay Speedway Wins

Coos Bay, Oregon...May 27...Brody Montgomery sped to his third NASCAR Sportsman Late Model feature victory Saturday night at Coos Bay Speedway.  Montgomery and reigning champion Wayne Butler have been battling fiercely for the point lead in the early goings this year, and Butler carried a slim six point lead over Montgomery coming into the night.  Montgomery gave Butler a little more than he could handle in sweeping the ten lap heat race, five lap Trophy Dash and 25 lap feature victories.  Butler didn't give up too much ground as he finished second in all three races.  Dyllan Siewell settled for third in the Main Event, followed by Charlie Withers.  Jeff Krossman had problems in hot laps and retired for the evening.

Camden Robustelli won the 25 lap Dwarf Car Main Event as the SODCA Dwarf Car competitors battled it out with the PHRA Dwarf Car group.  SODCA regulars won all but one of the races.  Robustelli has his sights set on his first championship, and he was coming off of an impressive win at Southern Oregon Speedway a week earlier.  Robustelli, A Dash winner Ryan Smith and reigning champion Brock Peters battled it out at the front of the Main Event before finishing in that order at the checkered flag.  Fred Hay had his best finish of the year in fourth as PHRA Dwarf Car regular Doug McVae was a solid fifth.  John Chrisman, Jeff Altom, Randy Slater, Chad Cardoza and Dyllan Chrisman rounded out the Top 10.  B. Peters, son Cody Peters and Smith won ten lap heat races before Smith held off B Peters to win the six lap A Dash.  McVae outran Hay to win the six lap B Dash.

Rob Lauver won the 20 lap Mini Outlaw Main Event.  Lauver and 2015 champion Sam Talon entered the night in a tie for the point lead and continued to run at the head of the pack all night.  Lauver outran Talon to win the ten lap heat race, five lap Trophy Dash and 20 lap Main Event.  Ken Fox ran a strong third in the feature as Jason Kallam, Jason Berrier and Dan Daniels rounded out the finishing order.

Ryan Siewell increased his Hornets point lead with a clean sweep effort that was capped by another 20 lap Main Event victory.  Siewell's closest point rival, Hannah Robison, had her first DNF of the year in 12th.  Siewell was the class of the field with wins in his ten lap heat race and five lap Trophy Dash as well.  Braden Fugate made an impressive season debut with a Main Event second followed by reigning champion Jeremiah Reiber.  Heat race winner Sam Taylor was a solid fourth ahead of Kayla Simmons, Dylan Keller, John Houck, Tim Young, April Warmack and heat winner Tom Williams.

Point leader Justin Krossman won the 20 lap Street Stock Main Event.  Krossman also won the five lap Trophy Dash ahead of heat race winner Jeff Thurman and Ken Fox.  Justin Barron beat Eric Tackett to win the Side By Side heat race, Trophy Dash and 12 lap Main Event.

At Marysville Raceway

Marysville, CA...May 27...Nine time reigniting champion Andy Forsberg won the 30 lap Civil War Sprint Car Series Main Event Saturday night at Marysville Raceway.  It was the Mel Hall Memorial Race, honoring the long time Grass Valley and Marysville promoter.  It also kicked off a two race weekend for the Civil War Series.  Forsberg had the outside second row starting spot for the feature, and Michael Ing got the pole following his six lap Trophy Dash win over fast qualifier and ten lap heat winner Geoff Ensign.  Ing led most of the first half off the race, and Forsberg moved into second.  Forsberg made his move into the lead during the last half of the race, and Ing would fade back a few positions as three time champion Colby Wiesz and Tyler Seavy made their move.  Forsberg won the race by a straightaway with Wiesz a solid second.  Seavey just beat Ensign back to the checkered flag as Ing settled for fifth.   Kurt Nelson, Jake Haulot, Tanner Carrick, Mike Monohan and Korey Lovell rounded out the Top 10.  Ensign's 12.520 beat Forsberg's 12.673 to set the fast time, and he also won his heat race ahead of Seavey.  Forsberg just beat Wallace back to the line to win their heat race, and Wiesz beat Brad Bumgarner in a good battle to win the third heat.

Kellen Chadwick won the IMCA All Star Modified Series portion of the Mel Hall Memorial.  Chadwick raced past early season Chico winner Cody Burke on a lap six restart to grab the Main Event lead.  C. Burke was still battling Chadwick as Austin Burke and Ryan McDaniel ran third and fourth.  McDaniel made an inside pass in Turn 2 of the 16th lap to grab third from A. Burke.  It was a lap 17 restart that opened the door for McDaniel to take second from Burke.  McDaniel provided lots of pressure for Chadwick down the stretch, but Chadwick drove a great race to earn the victory.  McDaniel settled for second ahead C. Hayfork, CA...May 20...As grandfather Bill Kasper has retired, young William Kasper scored the victory in the Hobby Stock Main Event Saturday night at Hayfork Speedway.  William ran the Street Stock classification last year, but both he and D.J.
